The view from the terrace looks across the Mediterranean southwards to the Pyrenees. The Massif de la Clape with its pine forests can be seen to the north. The beach is less than 50 metres away. There are shops and restaurants close by and many activities for the family including windsurfing, sailing and a theme park for the younger ones.

Narbonne, a Roman settlement, is the nearest large city, only 20 minutes drive. There is a super-fast TGV rail service from Paris to Narbonne which takes 4 hours and extends as far as Barcelona.

For the motorist, driving is still a pleasure in France with its extensive road network and relatively uncrowded Auto-Route's making short work of the distances involved. When route-planning, choose between the western A62/61 via Toulouse, the A7 which offers the shortest route from north to south via Paris or the more easterly A9 by way of Lyons.

Car hire rates in the Languedoc are generally lower if the reservation is made outside France. Reservations can be made from the UK for collection at all serving airports. The nearest airports are at Perpignan or Carcassonne both Montpellier and Gerona/Spain.

The Languedoc region has many places to visit such as the Abbey of Fontfroide, a few miles from Narbonne, with beautiful cloisters and rose garden. The gorges of Minervois can easily be visited, including the village of Cathar that straddles two river gorges, a village full of restaurants, galleries, and numerous places to taste wine made amongst the cliff hugging vineyards. The region is full of vineyards that offer wine tasting.

The Languedoc-Roussillion region of Southern France curves in a great arc around the Mediterranean, from the Cevennes down as fare as the Pyrenees and the border with Spain. The region has the highest annual sunshine average in France, magnificent scenery, clean uncrowded beaches with warm seas, excellent water skiing and many other recreational facilities.

Bicycle hire is available from Gruissan centre and safe cycle tracks run along the local canals for many kilometres. For walking enthusiasts the region of Montagne de Clape, close by offers magnicient scenery.
